Archie Cook and Jack Calcraft named 'Knights of the Week'

The South Coast Group Seven Junior Rugby League competition resumed on the weekend, with the Kiama Junior Knights hosting seven games at Chittick Oval.

In windy and sometimes wet conditions, the Junior Knights played against teams from Stingrays, Albion Park Oak Flats, Jamberoo and St Georges Basin.

Eight teams played away games against Albion Park Oak Flats, Stingrays, Bomaderry and Nowra.

One of the highlights from the day was the under 6s match between the Kiama Blacks and the Kiama Reds.

In a very tight fixture, the boys showed great skills, determination and teamwork with Jack Calcraft and Ellis Young among the try scorers for the Blacks, scoring three tries each.

Meanwhile, Quade Nelson and Eddie Laird scored a hat-trick each, and Jack Willetts scored a runaway try for the Reds.

Archie Cook was awarded 'Knight of the Week' for the Reds after a strong game both in attack and defence, with Jack Calcraft awarded the same accolades for the Blacks following his stellar performance – well done boys!

The Junior Knights are holding their annual fundraising event, a Casino Night, on Saturday, June 30.

Tickets are $75 each and include canapés, drink on arrival, entertainment and $100 worth of play money for the Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Texas Hold 'em Polker tables.

All money raised will be used by the club to purchase equipment such as footballs, tackling bags, pads, jerseys and other essential items. It will also allow the Club to purchase trophies and provide players with team photos as part of our end of season celebrations.

Get your tickets today from the Kiama Leagues Club reception or by phoning the club on 4232 1777.
