Round 5 wrap-up

The Kiama Junior Knights got a reminder that winter is just around the corner, when round five of the South Coast Group 7 Rugby League Competition took place on Saturday, May 12.

The Junior Knights hosted five games at Chittick Oval, taking on teams from Milton Ulladulla, Warilla and Berry in extremely wet and windy conditions.

A highlight from the day was the under 7s match between Kiama Reds and Blacks.

The boys showed that not even the cold, wind or rain could stop their enthusiasm to play a great game of footy.

All the boys showed great determination, playing for bragging rights. But what better way for a game to end than with a 12 all draw with your friends!

Chace Cassar, Kyle and Harry McCrone all scored a try for the Blacks, while Graycen Kalogerakos scored two tries and Jett Morris scored one for the Reds.

Jayce Watters was awarded ‘Knight of the Week’ for the Blacks for his forward attack and defence even in the treacherous weather, with Kayd Palmer awarded the same accolades for the Reds for his direct running and go-forward which set the platform for his team to score. Well done boys!

This Saturday, the Junior Knights will host nine games at home, with the first game kicking off at 8am.

Meanwhile, the under 6s teams will represent the club on Sunday at the Kiama Senior Knights’ home game against the Gerringong Lions.

The boys will have the opportunity to present jerseys to the First Grade team at 2pm, before walking the players onto the field for a 2.45pm kick-off in the local derby.
