The Kiama Junior Knights were back in action at Chittick Oval on Saturday, with round 14 of the South Coast Group 7 competition.
In the first game of the day, the Kiama Junior Knights Under 9 Blacks took on Warilla Gorillas Gold.
Despite going down by 2 points, the Junior Knight started off strong and were very competitive against the Gorillas.
Some good runs from Max Miller, Callum Hughes, Izack Moore and Zedd White lay the foundation for Will Evans, Cruz Cassar and Owen Emmett to score.
In defence, Will, Owen, Arlen King and Josh Shoard were strong making some great low tackles.
Three of the boys, Will, Owen and Max, then travelled to Bomaderry to play for the Junior Knights Under 10-2s team which was short on numbers. Despite a strong performance, the team went down by just one try. It was a huge effort from the Under 9 boys to back up, showing great club spirit.
Later in the day, the Under 9 Reds team played the Warilla Gorillas Blue.
Fin Henricson, Ziggy Scobie, and Jack Ryman, who played in the first receiver and dummy half vests, provided good service to their team mates, Oscar Cottrell and Jordan Corbacho who had some strong runs.
Max Laird led the way in defence and was well supported by Fin, Owen and Will. The Knights ended up winning the game 32-6 with tries to Fin, Ziggy, Max and Will (3).
On Saturday afternoon, the Under 8s then represented the Club as the ‘Team of the Week’ at the Kiama Senior Knights.
The boys presented jerseys to the First Grade team in the dressing sheds and then ran the players onto the field before their game against the Berry Magpies.
It was a big afternoon for the Kiama Senior Knights, celebrating captain Kieran Poole’s 150th game and Alex Boles’ debut in First Grade. Congrats to our former Junior Knights players, Kieran and Alex!
