Knights scare APOF Maroons

The South Coast Group 7 competition continued on the weekend, with the Kiama Junior Knights hosting seven games at Chittick Oval. The Junior Knights played against teams from Albion Park Oak Flats, Gerringong, Bomaderry and Stingrays. One of the highlights of the day was the Under 8s match between the Knights and Albion Park Oak Flats Maroons. This was the second time the Knights faced the undefeated Maroons, and the boys showed great determination and line defence in the first quarter. Louis Allen displayed great speed and footwork with a length of the field try, converting to go 6 all into the break. In the second quarter, Bailey Lawson provided a quick ball for Ellis Muedell to find some hustling line breaks and open off loads to Xander Ross and Caleb McLean-Jones. Throughout the rest of the game, some try saving tackles by Tahlo and Eze Maguire kept the boys in the match. Despite losing to a well drilled team, the boys walked away with their heads held high. Well done boys! The Knights get to enjoy a weekend off but will return to the field on 21 July. In the meantime, two teams will represent the Club as ‘Teams of the Week’ at the Kiama Senior Knights on Sunday 15 July. The Under 16s Girls League Tag Team will present jerseys to the First Division Ladies League Tag Team in the sheds at 11:30am and then walk them out onto the field for their game against the Nowra Bomaderry Jets at 12:30pm. Later that afternoon, the Under 12 boys will present jerseys to the First Grade Team, before running them out at 2:45pm. Get down and support the Kiama Knights this Sunday!
